Going to the Mouth

Fed ball -

After the pitcher takes his warm-up pitches, and the ball is "sent down" and thrown around, the last player touching the ball before returning it to the pitcher (the shortstop) clearly spits on his hands, and without wiping them off, goes directly to the ball rubbing it between his wet hands. Then the ball is tossed to the pitcher's glove.

Do we have a violation here?

If I was F1 I may chance getting tossed for malicious contact on my own teammate. Yuck.

No, you probably do not have a violation as most F1's will rub up the ball with their hands or the ball will sit in the glove. So much for the hawker!

Now if F1 took the soft toss from F6 in his bare hand, went to the rubber, then immediately delivered the ball, you could charge F1 with delivering a "doctored" ball (if your name were Smitty).
