Keep Your Mouth Shut!

Assuming this coach is being truthful....this came from a coaching discussion forum and is about a game yesterday. (I know the game he is speaking of and the facts of how it ended are accurate. Can't speak to what may or may not have been said as I was not there)

-----
And if you blow a call, Mr. Referee, don't tell your ref buddies about it in the locker room loud enough so that the other team's coach, in the can, a flimsy wall away can hear you.

Last night ... we're up 40-38. Last play of the game, other team has ball on our 21. Kid catches on the goal line, low ball. One LJ says TD, the other immediately says down in the field of play, game over. Conference and it's a TD, we lose 44-40. Of course, if we had stopped them once or made a stinkin' first down, we would have avoided this entire mess.

Our asst. coach hears the ref that called the TD while the coach is attending to personal business in the can telling his colleagues, "I didn't see him cross the goal line but I figured he must have." It was the only call the guy made all night.

Guess who's on our scratch list for next season? I don't mind refs blowing calls ... they are (believe it or not) human, but come on ...

In a perfect world, officials will be able
to have a pre-game, and change in a facility
where they can feel free to discuss things without
being heard.
Till then-- we must keep those discussions for the
ride home or the next chapter meeting.
