Another fair/foul question
Can someone please tell me if this is correct
Ball lands infield and rolls out before passing 1st or 3rd base= foul Ball lands out and rolls in before passing 1st or 3rd base = foul Ball lands in and rolls out past 1st or 3rd = fair Ball lands out past 1st of 3rd = foul Ball lands in rolls out and back in before passing 1st or 3rd ??? fair or foul Ball lands/rolls "on" the line = fair or foul??? Thanks |

Flamin, just from your question I can see one of your priorities is off, and I am surprised no one has mentioned it.
If the ball hits the ground before passing 1st or 3rd, then where it lands is irrelevant. Don't even include that fact in your thought process. And don't worry about whether it crosses the line, comes back, does a little dance, and goes back over. Here it is, in easy form. If it hits the ground before passing 1st or 3rd, then all that matters is whether the ball is fair or foul when it A) is touched, B) finally does pass 1st or 3rd (even if it does this in the air), or C) comes to rest.
