Getting to the "point"
Brethren,
Do you "point" when indicating a batter offered at a pitch ? And, if you do, with which hand do you point ? Thank you, gentlemen. Let the flaming begin !

Yes I do point if it is close or I want to sell the call. And I use the right hand. If I ask for help I will get from behind the catcher and point to my partner with my left hand.
Peace

1) I extend my left arm and point with my index finger, and 2a) Say he went if it was a checked swing, or 2b) Say he offered if it was a bunt attempt. I do not know why I use the different verbs for checked swing and bunt, I just do. MTD, Sr.

It is my personal preference to do all my 'non-strike call' pointing with my left hand. So, if a batter offered at a pitch/bunt....I point with my left and simply say "YES"....and point a strike with my right hand. Check swing appeal, I step out, point to my partner with my left hand and ask, "DID he go?"

Point with my left hand and make the out call with my right and say "on the tag" At the plate same thing, point with my left ring up the strike on my right hand and say "he offered" Pete Booth
