Arrow Gear Measurements

Being this is my first year in baseball, how does the measurments on the leg guards work? Also, do I need to go a size up on shirt and pants with all the equipment on?

1. Most shin guard manufacturers suggest that you measure from center of the kneecap to bottom of shin.

2. Buying plate pants according to your accurate waist size will have enough room for shin guards.

3. Shirts are a different issue. Depends on your build and how loosely your shirts fit. For example, if you wear a "large" and it hangs a bit and fits a little loose, you could probably wear it for base and plate work. On the other hand, if you wear a large and it fits "just right" or a little tight, you'll be better off buying an extra large for plate work.

I like to get pants that slightly larger in the waist because you're tucking in two shirts.

As for shirts, I've found they vary wildly by maker. I've got a +POS long sleeve XL that barely fits, and a Dalco XL that I can do back flips in.

If you are wearing Plate Shoes with a Metatarsal Plate, subtract one inch from your length measurement. (I read this on one of the supplier's web sites)

I made the mistake of not doing that with the very first set of Shin Guards, and they never fit right. They would always ride up and spin to one side. The second pair I bought were one inch shorter, and the sit perfect.
