From my experience as a parent and a teacher, I can tell you that that is what teens do.

However, when I was training youth umpires, including my two sons, I taught them that on the field, they were not "youth" or "youthful" umpires...they were umpires. The teen characteristics had to stay off the field...something our new young friend should learn quickly.

I will probably get accussed of spouting 'venom,' as he did on the umpire.org forum, but please do not associate his jibberish as grounds for the quality of officiating in Canada. There is a tremendous number of excellent officials in Canada, and the game of baseball is on the rise. After all we did beat the U.S in the WBC.

Canadaump6, you'll probably try to jump all over me again, but I once again find it necessary to offer the advice, "read more, post less."

Take it as you will.

The remark was made half in jest. I know some good Canadian umpires...mostly from eastern Canada, though...and I know that some good recent grads from Evans' Academy are from Canada. As with any area there will be the good, the bad and the canadaump6.

Upon further review, I'd have to say that you do, indeed, show great future promise. As a coach.

I just PMd BIB and clued him in about "dumbdrum."

I've got my fire extinguishing crankin' today.

Boyinblue is trying to apologize to you, but it hasn't seemed to take so far!

Then the 3 of them must be on the phone together because their posts are interchangeable! They must be doing the Vulcan Mind Meld with each other!

How many people do you think inhabit those bodies?

Regards,
It's entirely possible that our old friend "DudeinBlue" has been reincarnated as at least one of these individuals.

Tim.

I've always been partial to the theory that the ones who constantly accuse others of being trolls and sockpuppets are speaking from, shall we say, a guilty conscience.

Just ask your 3 questions, and get back under your bridge!

First of all I would like to thank DaveHensely and boyinblue for bringing some decency to this board. As good as some of the veteran umpires on here probably are, they seem to have lost any sense of decency and respect. It's not that hard; treat other people well.

Secondly, I often wonder what some people are doing on these forums in the first place. Not to mention any names in particular, but there are some people who I have found contribute nothing to discussions, other than flaming and calling people trolls. It's an ongoing thing, some posters just want to start trouble.

And regarding the people who question my abilities as an umpire without seeing me doing a game, I plan on having someone videotape parts of the games I do (if baseball season would ever start here in Canada), and you guys can give constructive criticism. I have a feeling you'll be a bit surprised by the quality with which I can call a ballgame. Stay tuned.
