Chest protector question

Anybody have any experience with this chest protector from +POS?

AU21/BB3000 - Ultra-Armor Chest Protector, vented mesh

Can anybody comment on the Wilson Platinum?

I'm looking especially for protection on the top of the shoulders.

Any recommendations would be appreciated, too.

I use the WV Platinum and protection at the top of the shoulders was one of the reasons I got it. It gives excellent(IMO) protection in that area as well as others. I don't know about the +POS.

The umpires who spend time on my forum have discussed this protector. As I recall they've said it's similar to a ski-vest in that it zips up the front. The biggest detractor mentioned is that it's incredibly hot. It seems like a lot of cash to spend with some of the more tested protectors on the market.

I use the Wison Platinum. It gets a big thumbs up from me. I've taken some nasty shots and have never been hurt.

I love my Platinum. But try one on first. One size does not fit all. I've had the hard shell Cooper, the WV Douglas and a couple of Honigs. The Platinum is my favorite, so far.

I have to laugh. From the description on the +POS web site:

"The air vents and mesh enforce a layer of air between you and the protector providing cool relief from exhausting heat, allowing you to maintain high energy levels."

I'll believe BigUmp56, however. That thing looks hot!

love the platinum

I have a platinum which I really like, and I've taken some hard foul balls and haven't felt a thing. I also have an original wilson west vest, and it's pretty good but not quite as protective (and not nearly as well fitting) as the WVP. The difference (better) fit that I get from the platinum is that the front section is better formed to my torso, whereas the original has a large center piece (covers the breast bone) that is flat and doesn't conform as well. Just my personal experience.

Absolutely, but for $170.00 I can find quite a few with equal protection that are cooler than a zip in +POS model.

I own a Wilson Platinum & a Honigs K1. I use a Wilson Platinum when working the big boys because I feel it offers better protection but the K1 feels more comfortable to me.

The All-Star CPU28 has even better protection, and really is cooler with the vent holes, from everything the people I've spoken with have been saying about it. Plus, it has a detachable extention. It is definitely the one I would buy if I hadn't had to buy the V-Sport due to the All-Star being sold out everywhere I turned.

From what I've heard the protection is excellent with the protector. But I agree that for my money I'd look for something else.

The All-Star can be had for $124 to $150 depending upon from whom you purchase it.

In my opinion, the BB3000 is for small diamond use only. I was not impressed with the protection and I am sure that I would not use it on the 90' diamond.

I would not trust this taking an 80 MPH pitch as much as I trust my WV Platinum. To me, there is no comparison.

Hey all,

I have the V-sport that SDS mentioned and, so far, I love it. It fits me a lot better than the WV Platinum or Gold because I have a larger (17") V-sport. Protection looks to be comparable.

I use the V-Sport (was all of $65). It takes HS varsity shots without a problem.
