I've searched all my rule books, and I can't find the wording "guide the ball to the ground" in any of them. Could you please provide the rule referrence for us? I don't think merely touching the ball intentionally qualifies, because in order to catch the ball, one must intentionally touch it. Intentionally dropping is a totally different event from intentionally touching.

I agree with the concept, I've just never seen the language. I'll search some more. At least until I get a life....may take a while.

I must correct myself here. One usually must intentionally touch the ball in order to catch it. Sometimes, as we know, the ball finds the glove without any intent on the part of the fielder, as in "look what I found."

PWL,

I found it!

FED Casebook 8.4.1g - "Manipulating the ball to the ground is prohibited."

And now we know....the rest of the story. Good day.
