Question Astros - Giants Beanballs

Does anyone else think its a bit odd that "Cowboy" Joe West allowed Astros picher Russ Springer four shots at hitting Barry Bonds after issuing warnings when the first pitch went behind Bonds back ?

I'm no Bonds syncophant, but that seemed ridiculous.

Also, let me apologize in advance for questioning the sainted Joe West. I just couldn't stop myself.

I find it odd that Joe West is still allowed to umpire major league baseball contests.

I also find it odd that he won a lawsuit against Riddell for patent infringement on a protector which did not even resemble the one he developed.

I also find it odd that he has one of the goofiest, weakest looking strike 3 calls in all of baseball.

Hey Joe, did you know?

I guess I'm just still pissed about the Riddell Power, the BEST chest protector ever made!

Heres exactly what Joe wrote to me about the Riddell Power

"The Riddell protector is the pattern that is under my patent and the reason they aren't sold by Riddell is because they settled out of court with me rather than fight me for patent infringement.
They also paid me for every one that they sold. But that wasn't Riddell's fault.
One of their employers hadn't been honest with them and is no longer with them.
If you look at the West Vest Gold it is the same as the Riddell with a pad that is not sewn through like the Riddell.
Where the pad is sewn through weakens the protection of the pad."

As far as the Giants-Houston game, I was surprised because a few weeks before in Kansas City, he & Jim Wolf ejected Indians pitcher Jeremy Guthrie for hitting a Royal with a 1-2 count. I guess earlier in the game, that player stole second with a 6 run lead and Joe felt "the game was over." It was pretty ridicilous to say the least.

I could write something about how only amateurs allow bean ball wars and don't know what a warning is...but that would be wrong and antagonistic, wouldn't it?

Maybe I should start a petition to send to Riddell to bring back the POWER. http://www.petitiononline.com/RPUmpire/petition.html

Well, since Sal won't sell me his, and I don't have mine any more, and I refuse to own a West Vest out of principle, I have signed the petition, and call on others to do the same. Riddell makes terrific shoulder pads, and they make catcher's gear, so they should recombine their efforts in producing a new and improved Riddell Power Umpire Chest Protector, one that does not infringe on any patent or trade dress rights of the ol' cowboy.

Why all the hatred towards Joe?

Speaking of Riddell, I went to their website and under contact info, it said Riddel/All American. Does Riddell produce the All-American chest protector?
