Maybe his services are needed and wanted. Maybe his assignor also wants to help him stay sharp.

In our association, we have an MiLB ump whom I have gladly assigned college games. Is he taking away anything from other guys? Not at all, especially since our guys can self-assign via the Arbiter, have not complained at all, and like the fact that it means a tad more time off for them (they don't have to work so often).
