Situation: 9-10 LL All-Stars.
Bases loaded one out, batter hits a fly ball to center field. R2 and R3 tag and advance. After the dust settles and the pitcher takes to ball on the rubber, the defense appeals that R2 left too soon. PU calls R2 out for leaving too soon since this would be the third out. Does R3's run count? Thanks... -Scott |

Runs don't score when the third out is a force out, the batter-runner doesn't reach first safely, or a previous runner is the third out for missing the plate. Here's the difference: 2 outs, R3, R1. R3 is stealing when B1 hits the pitch deep into the hole at short. F6 goes back, makes a great get, and flips to second, just in time to nip the slow-footed R1. BEFORE R1 is out at second, R3 crosses the plate. The timing is irrelevant: R1 is forced to second, he never made it, he's the third out so.... Thbird out force: No run. |
