Who is on the line?

If a lot of barking is taking place, there is no reason NOT to ask your partner what he saw. Like was said here - it is a dead ball anyway - it can be fixed. Several Pro umps at Wendelstedt said that the fair/foul hom run was one of the toughest calls - expecially in a 2 man. In a four man - or even a 3 man with a guy going out on every ball - at least you have 4 eye balls on it, min.

There are ways to make these calls easier. But parks will seldom do so since it requires thought and knowledge of the game to erect netting. The professional game could do it easily also - but why make it easier for the umpires to get the call right when you can "create controversy" and keep "charm of the game" by keeping tough calls tough.

People love to see the umpires get it wrong - the owners love it when replays get shown and re-shown - it is free publicity for the game.
