You were right, Windy. Good call. I still say they should have decided not to pick up the option on Carr's contract and dealt him for some offensive linemen. Only time will tell, but with Youngs porential upside being what it is, McNair may end up regretting his decision.

Gee, you need one elective course to graduate. Why would anyone choose anything with any degree of difficulty?

I can imagine that some Ivy Leaguers would have an argument, but I happen to agree with you. If my son was one class away from graduating and could choose any subject, I'd be happy to let him take underwater basketweaving for lefties if it helped him finish up.
Matt Leinart's decision to forgo the millions he could have made in the pros for the thousands he makes at USC was noble. I find no fault in his course load. The guy was done except for something that required little brain power and helped him stay nimble. Didn't they make Ball Room Dancing and Olympic sport last games?

I think a lot of people feel the same way: why push yourself? It comes down to the point of education. Is it just a credential, or are you broadening and deepening a lifelong project?
The former view is prevalent in our society, probably because businesses started requiring a BA for many entry-level jobs. Given that mindset, it is reasonable to try to get through with as little friction against the brain as possible.

It is obvious to me that you guys never actually took a ballroom dancing class in college.
I took ballroom dancing one year to give me my twelfth credit and keep me full time. That is a good reason to take it. The best reason to take it is that, typically, the class has a 4 or 5 to 1 ratio of women versus men. I got to dance with all these fine looking college hotties and got credit to do it. While that part doesn't apply to Leinart, for everyone else it is a great deal. Oh and the best part was that the instructor was also my college baseball coach. He is a certified Arthur Murray instructor. That was a fun class. And I can dance circles around most people at any wedding I go to...

Well I am certainly wiser than this man. It is only too likely that neither of us has any knowledge to boast of; but he thinks that he knows something which he does not know, whereas I am quite conscious of my ignorance. At any rate it seems that I am wiser than he is to this small extent, that I do not think that I know what I do not know. ~Socrates |

I took typing my senior year in high school. Best class I had my senior year. I was one guy in a class of about 35. The class started in late August, in a time before air conditioning in high schools, and mini-skirts were still in style.
