After recently reviewing the myriad equipment questions, I have come to but one conclusion, the next generation is hopeless.
What is next; do you prefer Kiwi Instant Shine or Ultra Black for dressing those plate shoes before the big game? Blanc likes black, blanc thinks black rocks, methinks blanc is firing blanks. Blanc is closer to the other board than many think.

I didn't write it was inappropriate. I wrote that it was pointless.
Your reading skills are suffering almost as badly as this board is lately. "Do you double knot your shoes or single knot them?" I feel no need to decrypt what is painfully clear.

Once again, you have shown that your actual baseball acumen is limited. I can't recall the last collegiate 'manager' I've seen. Are you more familar with the 'team manager' concept? It sounds like that is what you did during your learning years. Maybe washing dirty uniforms was the impetus for your equipment fetish. The NCAA doesn't want umpires to exacerbate the situation. Gleaning your NCAA knowledge from the internet is a far cry from performance on the field. When you get that first assignment, post it so we can celebrate together. I'll be happy to give you some more pointers about mechanics and development. It sounds like you've got a lock on the equipment thing though. Go with your strengths! Now, dust yourself off and no one will suspect that you've fallen.

Actually, you fell off of it when you tried to sing. Everyone within earshot knows that you never had lessons.
You might want to try the equipment bit again, at least people thought you knew something there. Do you prefer a wood handle plate brush or one with a metal scraper handle?

Sorry... I appear to have stumbled onto something unexpected...
I was looking for something related to baseball - or at least something interesting. Who's dad will beat up the other?... I can scarcely wait for the next spellbounding yarn to be spun. Wow!

Hey Scott,
How's the new shirts coming along? You know you can send me a complimentary one to show the guys in our association if you want to when you get some in. Thomas, If you would, post your e-mail in your profile or send me an e-mail by clicking on my e-mail icon. I've got something I want to discuss with you away from the board. Tim. |

New umpire shirts... my own label
Tim - thanks for asking... the shirts are on the way... navy with red/white/blue shoulder inserts and trim; black with black and white shoulder inserts and trim and gray with red/white/blue shoulder insert and trim.
I'll get your address (email me) and I will certainly send you one. They are cut slightly longer and wider than all the other brands - and the sleeves are longer. Big pocket... remarkably well made and (with the washing and washing and washing I have done with the samples - they appear to be extremely high quality. I bounced the design off a AAA/MLB umpire/acquaintance, and with his suggestions, they are looking pretty terrific. I hope to have them later this month/early January. Navy first and, if they do well, the black and the gray to follow. The gray with the red/white/blue is REALLY sharp!

I gotta ask this question. I've been out of the Navy now for quite a while. I do remember a couple of guys talking about using steele wool to take the leather back down before building it back up again with polish.
Have you ever heard of this? Tim. [Edited by BigUmp56 on Dec 6th, 2005 at 02:17 AM] |
