Re: Sorry Tim, I did not mean to take your trophy away from you.
Tim I am very happy with your intentions. I did not ask the question to get in a debate with people over what the mechanics was or was not. Like many other posts, there is always a underlining plot that these things take. I really do not care that you got a 100% on any test. The last time I checked, test do not make you an umpire or an offical. I got a 97% this year and 100% the year before, so what. Do you want a snack for your great accomplishment? I do not care that you TEACH FED MECHANICS, what does that mean? All that means is someone gave you that job, does not mean you can apply them and it does not mean that you are competent at it. Both the President and the Vice President (which is myself) got voted into office because no one wanted the positions. You think I give a rats behind that I am a Vice President. Wow, we meet 4 or 5 times before the season starts, I hope you are impressed, I am surely not!!!!
Now I say this to illustrate nothing, because who cares. I do know this, many of the clinicians in my area teach the FED mechanics and teach, college mechanics and some pro mechanics, who gives a damn!!! Have you ever read the "Baseball Umpires' Guidebook" made by Referee Magazine (bad word around here), many not FED mechanics that are in there. You know what, I use them!!! Do not all get up at once now!!! I have said this before and I will say this again, umpiring and officiating has many levels to it. People do college, pros, FED, LL, AAU, T-ball, coach pitch, Pop Warner, and any other rec league or park district league that you can think of. If you feel that you need to do what makes you happy, do it. If you want to wear a shirt with no patches on it, even though the rules require it, do what you want. If it feels good do it. But if you were to ever work with me, and you were the PU, all I would say is, "what do you want to do." And if we are doing a NF game and you and I cannot agree, I might say something like, "the Federation mechanic is this, do you want to do that?" If you feel that is the way you want to do a game, I really do not care. You have to live and die with your calls, I do not. If you do something that does not make sense, explain it to the coach, or evaluator. Here guys do what they feel all the time, but if doing non-FED mechanics hurts your playoff opportunities, well you have to live with that. Life is a bunch of choices. If you have the right to do what you want or make your own choices. I am just sharing the information, if you do not agree, you have that right. But I have the right to do what I feel too. When I umpire, all I care for the moment is what my partner(s) and I do. My partner backed me up on the call, he never questioned it, as a matter of fact he explained to the coach what the player did. I only gave the example to see opinions on what you would call, not to debate what the FED mechanics are or not. I am so sorry that my reference offended you. I did not mean to step on your toes as it relates to your teaching ability, my bad!!!! I did not realize Tim that you were the only one that could bring up references about mechanics or rules. Next time I will keep my place as the lowely old umpire that I am. NNNOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!! Peace Quote:

I am
just so sorry for you Rut.
I wish there was hope for you but you burned it. |
You need to be......
feeling sorry for yourself. You are the person that cannot read. You are the one that is insulted because you cannot handle a reference.
But you are the "so called" teacher. I bet all you sit in a room and agree with each other on everything. But you probably are a slave in your association and cannot do anything without the approval of the board. No wonder you do not have a mind of your own, you have to do what they say. Peace. |
