Tony, I see where your coming from, and understand what your saying.

If your situation happened, I'd put an end to it. In mine, however, the visiting team was trying to put the ball into play so the defense could make plays, rather than continue to blast away. They were doing what they could to make the defense feel like they were still in the game and not being given outs. It was actually very classy on their part.

I expected that. I was sure you would not allow a travesty to continue that would embarass you or the other team. Classy is the right word. Those teams seem to be harder and harder to find these days. Good coaching and good character.

Most of you are not getting the point. In your responses, the coach of the team that was up by 20 runs told his team to swing at every pitch, and told the umpire to call everything strikes. In the game I did, the coach that was up by 20 runs had his batters taking pitches right down the middle. I wanted to pick up a bat and hit him with it.

No, we got your point quite well. We're demonstrating that in this situation not every coach is going to react to it the way yours did. Actually quite the opposite.

You also asked a question about our "thoughts" on your expansion of the strike zone. We gave you those "thoughts". We expanded the strike zone when the coach who was ahead by a bunch asked us to.

Unhappy No Win Sit

I believe that most do see your point, but it is really a no-win sit. If the home team wants to look at 2 right down the middle, I have a feeling there would be a lot of called third strikes. I have also done a game like this one. I opened my zone up to the point that I was uncomfortable with it. At the time I figured it would be the only way to get the game over. Much to my surprise, the winning team changed pitchers, and I stayed with my new zone, and DAMN if the losers started coming back! IMHO, I won't change my zone anymore, what I start with is what I finish with, no matter how bad it is, or how long it takes!
