I don't know how many pay attention to the notification of "our newest member" that appears in the upper right of the officialbore'm screen, but this morning I read:

Welcome to our newest member, Frank Drebin.

Allow me to extend my personal greetings, Lieutenant. I certainly look forward to you sharing your baseball secrets like:

Jane: I've heard police work is dangerous.
Drebin: It is. That's why I carry a big gun.
Jane: Aren't you afraid it might go off accidently?
Drebin: I used to have that problem.
Jane: What did you do about it?
Drebin: I just think about baseball.

And, hopefully, you'll describe in detail your plate mechanics, especially your strike three call.

Bummer about Nordburg, eh?

(Drebin to other umpire): "You're outta here!!!"
(Other umpire): "You can't throw out another umpire"
(Drebin): "Then, YOU'RE outta here!!!"
*More arguing and shouting*
*Drebin pulls out a gun*
(Umps) *Backing off* "Ok, ok. whatever you say man."

hahaha my favorite part

Talking 'I've heard police work is dangerous' is my middle name

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm honored to be recognized purely for my baseball knowledge and instincts and not just my long history of public service. Surely you were aware that I've been up at Stateville Prison umpiring some Inmate Spring League ball games as well as looking in on Sally Decker, Dutch Gunderson, Montague Martin and Veronica Rivers among others.

Some of you must be asking yourself how I, Sgt. Frank Drebin, Detective Lieutenant Police Squad, a Special Division of the Police Force happened upon this difficult to locate Officiating Forum. Surely a fair question. Let's say it was a little hunchback at the office. Okay: "It Was A Little Hunchback At The Office."

I'm looking forward to sharing my baseball experiences, as well as discussing my my plate mechanics, and breaking down my strike three call in the near future.

Until tomorrow, it's good night...for tonight...

First question: How did you manage to fit a vacuum cleaner in your ball bag?

Do you wait until your strike three call breaks down to call the plate mechanic, or do you perform preventative umpiring and call the mechanic in when the call's running a little rough?
