I've only seen the one gray catcher's chest protector in all my years around the game. It's not like it's a common thing that you could use to dismiss an argument. Why did you ignore the comments from umpires that indicate there might be problems? How was playing the outfield? If you were a pitcher or an infielder you'd know about white backgrounds.
