Hello every one...

I am new to this forum and need a little help.
I am a swordsman in the Reno, NV area.
I work in Japanese and medieval sword training.

In order to protect oneself with affordable armor when sparring, hockey and baseball catcher's equipment is suggested.

I am looking to buy a pair of catcher's shin guards. The local Play It Again Sports store has a wide selection of these.

I am looking at a pair made by Itech. There is one piece that covers the shin and a seperate piece that covers the front of the knee. THere are two more overlapping pads that seem like they should go over the top of the knee.

I am not quite sure how these are properly worn.

Could someone direct me to where a good picture of a set is being worn by one of the pros....?

Are the shinguards in the red worn correctly?

Medieval sword training, eh? Well, you've come to the right place! Almost everyone here enjoys a good sparring session. We don't use pads or "armor" though. Takes the fun out of it.

By the way, the shin guards in red seem to be attached correctly, though I can't comment on the rest of it.

Why not invest in some medieval armor to go with the swords? Seems like cheating to use modern protective gear. What do the rules say? And is FED any different?

Wink

I am making medieval armor out of leather for "re-enactment" purposes and it will be used for sparring in public demonstrations.

We use the shin guards, hockey gloves and hockey helmut as a quick setup for informal sparring.

For re-enactment sparring, we use armor that is appropriate for the time period.

Everything is done live with full speed and contact.
It is nice to bash someone in the head and not get chewed out for it....heh heh...

hmmmm.....I don't know what FED is....

thanks for your reply

We have now officially been taken to another level.

Did you two go through Customs yet?

Carl, I believe this will be an entirely new section for you in BRD 2006.
