I noticed something while watching a lot of MLB games, was wondering if anybody out there knew what it was.
I have noticed a lot of umpires wearing a Wilson chest protector that is very thin and gray, with a very large yellow W directly on the top of it (under the neck), but is not a protector that Wilson sells. Does anybody know what this is? I have noticed a ton of guys wearing this one (Froemming, Timmons, Marquez, Barksdale, ect.) Thanks. |

It could be an old Power by Riddell with a Gold/Wilson "W" place over the "Power" emblem. I think Wilson has a contract with MLB Umpires and the only advertising allowed on masks and chest protectors is Wilson. I'm not sure - just guessing since I've seen no other brand advertising on MLB umpires this year. In fact, it looks like some of them have had to cover logos from other manufactures

MLB Umpires do an awesome job doing their job. They probably have the best jobs in America!
I am good friends with 2 of them and they have an unbelievable travel schedule. They see the biggest cities, know where to eat, get your haircut, etc. Kudos to the men in blue!!!! |
