My standard indication of a called strike has been to turn to the side and point. It has been fairly safe for me, because I wait until I am sure play has completed before I turn.

Now that I am using the Gerry Davis System, I found that to be somewhat uncomfortable. The GD is a wide stance and unless you are busting out, it does take an extra step to stand up and turn. So I decided to try using the Hammer motion in my 14-15 YRO Babe Ruth game today.

I liked it much better. I have always used a forward facing Punch-Out move, which works fine with the GD.

In using the Hammer, I found that I wasn’t moving between pitches. I would only move if a play required me to or a new batter came to the plate. The Hammer is not as dramatic as the Turn and Point, but I feel it is a better mechanic for the GD and when working alone in general.
