Mike Everitt

Controversy aside about the four ejections in Detroit tonight, the fact according to Katie Strang of ESPN that he wouldn't allow radio in his post-game interview is unacceptable. Reminds me when John Feinstein confronted former NCAA mens basketball supervisor John Adams about officials doing interviews after games saying if an eighteen year old is doing TV interviews after a game, a fifty-five year old official should be mature enough to do a TV interview after a game. Everitt turned fifty-two last week and should do the same TV interviews a twenty-one year old is expected to do in MLB.

I don't know what purpose it would serve. They were arguing balls and strikes and were ejected as a result. What more needs to be said?

I think "no interviews" is MLB policy (except for a simple rules statement by the crew chief).

Don't bitch at Everitt -- bitch at the league (or take it to some fan boy site)

I like how some people disappear for months and come back mostly to rip officials.

I don't work baseball.

But why is this such a big deal? All four were arguing balls and strikes (which the rules expressly prohibit), were warned not to continue, continued, and were tossed.

Seems cut-and-dry to me.
