No, it's not correct: an "appeal" is a term of art, referring to the defense challenging a baserunning infraction--a runner missing a base or leaving too soon on a catch.

But the PU was correct in that it is not the kind of call where you ask your partner for help. The difference is between seeing something definite and seeing nothing, so to speak. The PU saw the ball hit the batter; that fact is not altered if the BU did not.

It is important to use the correct terminology.
