Donato and my dad were HS teammates. I had been ref'n about 5-6 years before I became aware that the Donato I had heard about and met once or twice as a kid was the official I was seeing on TV.

Congrats to both officials on outstanding careers. They have accomplished much and have helped to improve the overall avocation of officiating.
These guys were both involved in two of the best games of the modern college era....Higgins worked '92 East Regional Final: Duke v Kentucky; Donato worked the 6 OT Big East Tournament classic: Syracuse v UCONN.
