Gerry Davis Plate Shoes

Since it is the off season and we are looking to upgrade equipment, I went to replace my Gerry Davis plate shoes as a Christmas gift and found out they are not carrying the original. They are only carrying the patent leather style in hi tops and lo cuts. I can't figure this out!? I have talked to a few of our association members who say they don't want to take a chance on the patent and as a result will do their buying elsewhere. Any other thoughts on this. Is patent leather that big in other parts of the country? Thanks for your input.
