Wrong basket

Saw tis at my son's 8th gread game today--I think i know what i would have done but...

Game goes into overtime--the officials start the overtime with a jump ball however they have the teams pointed in the wrong direction-Team B scores off the jump into the basket they were pointed to (should have been Team A's basket)- Team inbounds ball under basket and one of the players realizes this should be their teams basket and shots and scores. Coaches go wild--Officials meet and give each team two points and have them then go in the proper direction--though this seems fair is it right? I think by rule Team B would get credit for both baskets then the officials could get them pointed in the right direction.
I don't think a player can correct a mistake by the officiails. Love to hear your thoughts
