However, is this not unlike the correctable error situation wherin it can sometimes be advantageous for the team that would stand to benefit to bring the error to the officials attention.

If there are merited FTs that are not awarded and A makes a throwin and scores a 3 with a foul on the shooter. A can, if the error is then discovered, Team A may actually get a 6 point trip. It behooves B to make sure team A gets the proper FTs.

In this case, the OT was started with the basket being B's basket....dictated by the lineup. Until the officials change that, it remains B's basket. The was nothing to make the ball dead unless the whistle was actually blown before the ball went it. Therefore, A put a live ball into B's basket.

If A knows that everything is the wrong way, they can not remain quiet and take advantage of it. I don't think they should get to try to pull it off on purpose without consequence.

On the other hand, I can also see the argument for giving B 2 points and giving A the ball with no additional points for A or B.

In any case, there is NO way the points count for A.
