Second home plate mechanics for PU
One of our local leagues has opted to utilize the senior softball option of a second home plate and a commit line.
This will eliminate all plays at the conventional plate and result in force outs if F2 catches the ball and steps on the regular home plate before the runner can touch the second home plate. This is a first for our local umpires. I've looked for some mechanics for this option online but haven't yet found the magic words that give me what I want. Anyone have experience and/or videos you can share?

I used to work a league that used the 2nd home base rule..
I basically stayed wider on the 3BL than normal to keep from getting ran over. Occasionally I would go inside the diamond shaded towards the 1BL if the the ball was on the 3B side of the diamond. We discontinued that nonsense the following season. |
