I really wish they would stop saying "Basketball play." Basketball play is not the reason you call a Flagrant foul in college basketball.

46.3 seconds left Alabama makes a dunk and calls a TO to sub.
One of the departing players appears to make a throat slashing gesture as he departs.
TV view was quick and I would like to see this again.
NCAA may not care, but I don’t believe that we can allow that conduct at the NFHS level.

Villanova v Utah St
14:28 remaining in the second half.
Utah St #22 jumps in the lane for a rebound and is pushed.
He then proceeds to tap the ball in an attempt to tip in a missed shot and falls to the floor. FTs are awarded. I do not believe that is correct.

Those who know me, know that I really do not want to say this, but: The Game Officials screwed the pooch on this play.

Wx (I do not remember W's number.) dribbled down the left side of the FT Lane. B33 had a LGP and jumped straight up as Wx ended his Dribble and his momentum caused him to first, commit a Traveling Violation and then stop under B33 such that B33 landed on Wx. Wx contact with B33 was his Right Shoulder against B33's groin and it caused B33 double over while Airborne and his elbows hit Wx in Wx head causing him to fall to the Floor and hold his head.

Virginia asked for a Video Review: Was the Contact a FF-1 or FF-2 by B33 against Wx?

The Game Officials have only three choices: FF-1, FF-2, or no Foul at all. I would expect my first year officiating students to see that B33 had LGP and that the contact was initiated by Wx. I cannot imagine that these Officials could not see that there was no way in HELL that Wx did anything illegal!

It was a terrible look!

Even if the officials believed that B33 deliberately contacted Wx in a manner warranting an F1 or F2 when coming down on top of him, this would have to be a technical foul because the ball was already dead due to the traveling call.

I completely agree. I watched that game and the defender for Kennesaw State actually ran forward and into the Gonzaga player’s forearm as he was holding the ball. A PC foul was even a harsh call, but an upgrade to F1 was not warranted. The verbal explanation that the official gave was that it was contact to the face. IMO he was reading the text of the rule without understanding how to intelligently apply it.

Early in St. John’s vs Northern Iowa

Score is 10-0 St. John’s
St. John’s gets a steal and a breakaway. The NI defender grabs the back of the St. John’s player’s jersey as he is nearing the basket. Only the C can see this and he correctly calls it. The camera angles from the end line are excellent for showing how the Lead has no view of this. The final replay just before the game resumes shows the shirt grab.
There is discussion about counting the goal or not as the St. John’s player made his attempt following the whistle. I m also interested in whether this should have been n F1. In HS I would have called an intentional personal foul.
