I always have them run the clocks down to see how they operate. The 30 second clock in some schools sounds odd. You want to know that in a last second shot clock scenario. Had a shot clock go to zero once with no horn. Got together with my partner and decided there must be thenths of a second (which don't show) on the clock. We administer a throw in ... a girl catches and shoots (before the horn) and the ball goes in. Then the horn. Try explaining that one to the other coach. Probably should have called a shot clock violation with the zero on the clock.
