Coach Reply
Today, after a game and headed onto the field for the next game a coach told me I needed to "lighten up".
During the game he played in, there was a screamer down the third base line that I called Fair. After his team finally got the third out, as he was walking to the coaches box, he asked me about it.
I told him that it crossed the bag and he wanted to talk about where the ball crossed. Clearly, he had a better angle from half way up the first base line in the dugout. After a very brief conversation that was never loud, he said "I disagree". I then said, "well, then we can agree to disagree". End of conversation.
I am just curious how I am supposed to "lighten up" when I have the one thing that I am paid to possess on the field, my judgement, questioned. Am I supposed to laugh and make a joke? Just curious, but only lightly curious.
