What age kids is this? sounds kind of strange for two kids to miss the plate much less by several feet like you stated above.

Don't think that would be happening if I was calling the game.

If this is FED ball, the umpire was wrong. If he didn't want to stick around he should have been long gone before everyone got around to touching home.
