Maybe because Jack Nickolson, Dyan Cannon, every Hollywood star, not to mention the networks who paid big bucks to broadcast games from coast to coast want to see the stars on the floor. I'm not saying this is right, it's just what I see.

But I agree with you, WCR. Take the physicality out of the game and skills will return. When players are allowed to beat the crap out of each other it's boring to watch. It isn't until the finals does the NBA get enjoyable to watch. I'll turn on the tube in about a month!!!
However, if the decision to TRULY clean this stuff up came down from the top and the league backed the refs, it'd be cleaned up pretty quickly. It would only take a few games before the pressure was on to stay in the game. The meal tickets would adjust, and the game would go on. Those without the talent would retire.
