NBA referee Courtney Kirkland treated us to one of the more humorous moments of the season when he got a little too aggressive while trying to stop Kris Humphries from attempting a free throw.
The Brooklyn Nets forward was at the line to shoot free throws in the fourth quarter against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night when Kirkland sprang in out of nowhere and tried to give him the Dikembe Mutombo treatment.
According to
The Brooklyn Game, Kirkland was just trying to prevent Humphries from shooting before a substitute entered the game. Humphries made both his attempts and finished with 11 points in the Nets’ 94-88 win.
We’re thinking Kirkland could have used a subtler method.
