I'm looking at this from what I think will be used as criteria in determining length of suspension. No, I don't think the NBA views throwing a mouthpiece and hitting an official the same as intentionally and physically contacting an official. Would it be different if it was a water bottle? Possible as it could be argued that there's a greater possibility for injury.
