The horn is NOT necessarily the end of the period.
The period is extended beyond the horn by many things:
1) An airborne shooter.
2) A shot in the air.
3) A foul (with FTs due) before (1) or (2) have ended.
In (3), it remains part of the current quarter until all FTs are completed. If a new foul, personal or technical, is commited before the last due FT has ended, it continues to extended the current quarter.
