The trick for me was controlling the instinct of raising an open palm -- a knee-jerk reaction when the ball-handler steps on the sideline -- and raising a closed fist instead. I'm not sure if I executed that smoothly.

Some guys around here preach that its okay to go from open to closed. Just never go closed to open.
