Employing the Tower Philosophy and a little levity, if an opponent is shooting at the wrong basket and is fouled, and subseqently misses scoring two points for the other team, then has the shooter actually been placed at a disadvantage?

After he shoots, and if he misses, he may not rebound the ball or dribble or pass until the ball is touched by another player.
After he shoots, and if he makes it, he just scored points for the wrong team.

Perhaps (and I offer this only for discussion) unless we see a hard or flagrant foul the shooter is not disadvantaged by an opponent at all.
