Help - I don't have my rules book at work and need correct information.
I know in ASA Fast Pitch and modified pitch that a base runner may leave their base when the ball reaches the front of home plate. I thought this was the same in ASA Slow pitch. I had a vetern official last night inform me that in slow pitch, the ball must
touch something before the base runner can leave. The ball must touch the ground past the front of the plate (not the plate or it will be a dead ball), the bat or the glove of the catcher before the base runner can leave. Is this true? Please give rule number.
