You learn quick! Coaches will yell "3-seconds!! 4...5..." even when no one from either team is in the key. They yell it on rebounds, shots, even when their own team has the ball and the defender is in the key "too long". They yell it when their player comes down with the rebound and turns to try to head upcourt against a press. I am constantly amazed at the amount of misunderstanding about 3 seconds.
