Just my two cents, but I would bet the rest of my game checks for the season (totalling about $50 ) that those D1 officials were not there for the $20/game. It may be true that they felt the games were below them (I know officials like that). It may be true that they felt they didn't need to put out a real effort b/c the level of play was so "low", by their standards. They may even have looked (or even been) bored.

All these things reflect baldy's comment about passion. But they have nothing to do with the coaches' ignorant comment about doing it for the money. Nobody who works D1 (at least $400/game) does sub-college games "for the money".
