Both coaches and the officials agree to this. Team A is losing by fifteen points with seconds to play in the fourth period. A1 now has eighteen points in the game. A1 drives down the lane, gets fouled in the act of shooting, releases the ball, and with the ball in flight, the buzzer sounds to end the game. The ball goes in the basket. Team B now leads by thirteen points. Lead official sounds his whistle for the foul a fraction of a second after the final buzzer sounds. A1 now has 999 career points.

NFHS 5-6: Each quarter or extra period ends when the signal illuminates or sounds indicating time has expired. EXCEPTIONS: 3. No free throw(s) shall be attempted after time has expired for the fourth quarter or any extra period, unless the point(s) would affect the outcome of the game.

What's an official to do?
Wonder how many FTs A1 missed during the season.
