From what I remember, the extra point is always attempted in the NFL, unless the touchdown occurs in overtime.

That's based solely on observing games over the years, not on the rule book. So that could be wrong.

Of note: That is the first time I have ever seen a team that takes a two point lead on the final play of the game forced to attempt the try. I'm glad to finally see it, though.
