Angle over distance and you have a great angle for selling the play at 3B just fine. So you are probably correctly closer to home, as a play developing there is a possibility and that is the priority.

2man is far from ideal in some situations, and this would be one of them.
If you do something different, communicate - you might can get your partner to take 3B with communication... but that could leave the potential play @ 2b open... which is never pretty.
