Some people argue that is the reason....but games are only assigned by authorized organizations. Also, it wouldn't be too difficult to get your hands on a patch or to fake one. I think they're worthless.

No sign of the velcro aside from the vecro strip itself. I just recently removed the old velcro from a couple shirt that are still in good shape but no longer use for HS games (older mesh shirts with the larger holes) and you can't tell it was ever there.

The trick is carefully lining up the velcro strips when attaching them to the shirt/patch and then carefully attaching the patch to the shirt. There is no reason for the hard loops to ever contact the shirt and create a mess....I have seen that on people who directly attach the velcro'd patch to the shirt fabric.

I keep mine for several years....but my oldest shirt still look essentially new. I've upgraded largely for comfort or appearance (not from wear but for new versions of mesh or shirts that keep you cooler). I still have shirts that I had when we switched to V-neck from the byron collar....they look fine but they are my last resort since they're the plain polyester shirts....meaning hot.
