I was the said designated "watcher" on a coed team, especially when I was the EH, and didn't have to worry about playing defense. When I was on defense, I still was the "watcher". My sharp eyes caught a female not touching 2nd on her way to 3rd when a guy walked. Appealed, and got the 3rd out.
The above situation, you should have seen the BU's eyes when he noticed I saw it. He knew he couldn't deny the appeal.
And all that in a Deaf national tournament. People couldn't believe how rules knowledgeable my team was, even if I was the one "coaching" or making the appeals!
