It offers no real protection for the clavicle or the shoulder area either, especially if you are working college ball. I had an All Star before my Pro 9, that was essentially a foam mat with a little hard shell protection for the shoulders, but it was quickly replaced when I took a shot off of a bat to the collar bone from a hard throwing college pitcher. I thought for a long while that maybe the clavicle was broken. I have since received similar shots and only been mildly fazed.
