Or players, or substitutes. Two different players can shoot the free throws for a technical foul. And don't forget that this is a situation where the coach can substitute for a starter with no penalty if the technical foul occurs before the jump ball to start the game. Also, remember, that with rare exceptions, you have to sit a tick, but you don't have to play a tick.
