OSU snaps 21 game streak - and it's a good thing
Oregon State beat USC last night 62-58 in OT, ending a 21 game conference losing streak (23 games including conference tournament defeats). At the end of the game, the fans at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis were chanting, "Just like football." Junior center Roeland Schaftenaar of the Beavers hit a 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds left in regulation to send the game into OT. OSU had trailed by as many as 15 in the second half and trailed by three in the OT. The Beavers are now 6-6 (1-1 conference) on the season for first year coach Craig Robinson, who is Barak Obama's brother-in-law.
Maybe the best part is that the Los Angeles Times story Sunday morning (the day of the game) described Oregon State as a "gimme" and a "speed bump" for the Trojans and described the Beavers as "Bad with a capital B". Who writes this stuff, Lou Grant?
Maybe the Trojans shouldn't have started Sarah Palin at point guard. She's not a good team player, but too much of a maverick.
