I had a rude awakening 3 wks ago. While working a football
scrimmage in the umpire position, the player being tackled
rolled into my right leg,while a defender hit me on the left
side. Result,12 stitches over left eye,broken right tibia.
I was under the impression that our boards insurance covered us for injuries sustained during a game.
Not so! I am also a soccer & basketball official. It is the same for those boards as well!
My fellow officials were a little suprised. I am looking at
getting extra coverage, not just for lost game fees but for
workman's comp for being out of work at my regular job.
Something to consider ot there.
I should be ready to go by mid Oct.
